Location Kuwait is in the northeast corner of the Arabian Peninsula, bordering Iraq to the north and west, Saudi Arabia to the south, and the Persian Gulf to the east

The word Hajj means ‘he went or betook himself to an object of respect and reverence’. Thus, the Hajj refers to any sort of pilgrimage, but in the Islamic context, it specifically refers to a spiritual journey to Makkah and its surroundings (in modern-day Saudi Arabia) during the lunar month of Dhu al-Hijjah (which literally means ‘the month which possesses Hajj’). The lunar calendar also has 12 months, but they are shorter than the solar months; thus, the days of Dhu al-Hijjah change every year.

The emotional, psychological and spiritual journey for Hajj commences once one has made the intention of going. It is not a decision to be taken lightly and there are many logistical issues that need to be sorted. However, once everything was booked we started to intensify our prayers and begin our spiritual journey to the house of Allah.
